Grow your ability to meet any challenge!

Open to all students.

This course is a great option for students interested in "leveling up" their emotional, mental, social, and physical resilience, as well as those interested in exploring the intersection of technology, gaming, and resilience.

In addition to several in-class gaming activities, students will play SuperBetter, an evidence-based online game that is rooted in positive psychology, cognitive behavior therapy, and game theory. No gaming experience necessary.

Course goals

Play games

Inside and outside of class, we'll play a variety of games to explore how the principles of game design can make even the most challenging tasks feel easier, more joyful, and more productive.

Apply games to "real life"

We'll practice how to apply what we've learned about game theory to make "failure" more fun, increase our odds of success, build stronger social connectivity, and even develop a broader sense of meaning and purpose in nearly any aspect of what we do as students and as people.

Students say...

I learned so much about myself and tools I will carry on to use to succeed in my other courses and life. I feel like in just the short 8 weeks my mindset has been more gamified when challenges come up and I am ready to tackle anything thrown my way!  This course has provided such a safe space to learn to be resilient and practice what we're learning.

I learned how to be resilient in life and how to create a schedule that will allow me to be successful without being overworked.  It is incredibly valuable information from a truly unique class.
