EDUC-X 159

If you are a first-year or transfer student (at any level), You@IU is designed for you!

This is a 13-week, 2-cr. course, 19 students in a class.  As a new student, we'll walk alongside you all the way up until the Thanksgiving break, focusing on the power of connection:

  • Building strong social bonds with other students, faculty, and staff
  • Using campus help resources as you need them
  • Discovering opportunities for personal growth & service to our community

We'll close the course by helping you to transition to the 100% online learning you'll be doing in your other classes after the break, and we'll continue to check in with you and host informal conversations to help you prepare for finals and finish your Fall successfully.

All sections will be taught as a blend of weekly face-to-face and online meetings at the scheduled class times, with multiple ways of attending and engaging.

Contact the coordinator, Anthony Guest-Scott for more information.

During class, we do stuff like dissect the library, talk choices with our colleagues at the CDC, explore the Mathers, and much more!

Getting involved

The culminating assignment is a campus engagement project where students get involved in a student organization or other volunteer opportunity in the IU Bloomington community.

I learned about a lot of different amenities IU has to offer that I didn't know about prior to taking the course. It allowed me to look at IU with more open eyes and as a result, it felt more like home a little bit more every week.
